“In conclusion, PICCs represent a feasible and minimally invasive option for central venous access in patients with acute leukemia undergoing chemotherapy induction, with a favorable safety profile in terms of CR-bleeding, sDVT, and BSI in our real-world experience. However, these findings should be interpreted with caution due to the retrospective, single-center design of the study and, importantly, the presence of relevant confounding factors, including differences in catheter characteristics (caliber and number of lumens) and clinical conditions at the time of insertion.” Reference:
