Nursing management of central venous catheter complications
Abstract:
Central venous catheters (CVCs), commonly referred to as central lines, are essential tools for administering medications and fluids and performing hemodynamic monitoring in critically ill patients. Although CVC insertion is a routine procedure, it carries risks for several complications that can significantly impact patient outcomes. This article discusses the most common complications associated with CVC insertion, nursing assessments for patients with CVCs, and overall nursing management practices.
