Sven Ivar Seldinger, a Swedish radiologist, laid the cornerstone of modern interventional radiology in 1953 with the introduction of his innovative technique for catheter insertion. This technique, known as the Seldinger technique, represents a pivotal advancement in medical procedures, offering a safer, less invasive method for vascular access.
