Abstract:

Dialysis patients are at increased odds for central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs). In this 2:1 matched case-control study of hospitalized hemodialysis patients, CLABSI in dialysis patients was associated with longer catheter duration and line type, even after adjusting for confounders. These findings highlight modifiable risk factors for CLABSI prevention.
