Hair management and CLABSI prevention
Extract:
“Lack of empiric evidence establishing a connection between hair and CLABSI and the absence of evidence-based guidelines directing hair management creates uncertainty and variations in practice. Nurses may become accustomed to managing CVC dressings with varying degrees of adherence in the presence of hair. Providers who perform CVC insertion may not anticipate maintenance challenges engendered by their site selection in patients with hair at or near the cannulation site.”
