Bacterial contamination of syringe tips
Extract:
“Improved vascular access care involving injection ports and syringe tips has reduced stopcock contamination, but the impact of the approach on syringe tips has not been assessed. We hypothesised that there would be near-zero contamination of syringe tips in the setting of both disinfectable stopcocks 5 and 70% ethanol caps to prevent contamination and provide passive disinfection of the DNCCs and syringe tips. We conducted a prospective observational study to test this hypothesis.”
